Job title: Animation and Graphic Design Officer

Department: Arts Department

Reporting to: Arts Director

The Animation and Graphic Design Officer designs social media posts, websites, mobile applications, business cards and brochures for MUBS and NWN. She/he prepares video animations for marketing purposes. She/he is responsible for building social media reports and assessing them for future strategies and plans.

Scope of Work:

The Animation and Graphic Design Officer creates visual communications such as adverts, branding, publicity materials and magazine layouts for MUBS and NWN.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Liaising with staff to determine their requirements.
• Managing print and production.
• Working with staff ideas and managing their expectations.
• Developing concepts, graphics and layouts, including making decisions about fonts, images, readability and readers’ needs.
• Determining size and arrangement of copy and illustrative material, as well as font style and size.
• Preparing rough drafts of material based on an agreed brief.
• Keeping staff up to date, listening to and acting on feedback, and explaining the rationale behind graphic design decisions.
• Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements if required.
• Keeping up to date with design and software trends.
• Liaising with external printers or production teams to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed or presented to the highest quality.

Job Requirements:

• Qualifications
  • A Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design. A Masters Degree is a plus.
• Experience & Knowledge
  • Experience working in a customer-focused environment, and experience of providing information & advice are essential requirements.
  • Experience of the Higher Education sector, and understanding of both Undergraduate & Postgraduate Higher Education needs are desirable requirements.
• Skills
  • Graphic design: Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere.
  • Fluent English (very good level required)
  • English copywriting
  • Familiar with Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Art direction - Photography skills - Independent and organized - Curious and willing to learn - Familiar with web technologies and Internet research
