International Day of Peace Forum with UNIC.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations and the International Day of Peace, MUBS, in cooperation with the United Nations Information Centre in Beirut (UNIC) and the Municipality of Aley, organized a forum entitled "The Forum for Education and Social Responsibility". The event took place at Al Risala Hall in Aley on the 21st of September in the presence of representatives of the Lebanese political parties, public figures, and schools.

The forum commenced with a welcome speech by MUBS student representative, Rawad Al Sayegh, followed by the presentation of Dr. Sanaa Chehayeb, Principal of MarounAbboud High School- Aley. Dr. Chehayeb focused on the importance of education in the advancement of our homeland.

Ms. Marguerite El Helou, Acting Director of UNIC, spoke on the importance of the partnership between the center and the university and highlighted the importance of the role of youth to change the future of our country.


As for Mr. WajdiMrad, Mayor of Aley, he stressed the importance of municipal benefits & support for the health of the citizens, and their comfort. Whether environmentally, health, social services, security and stability, most importantly educationally.

Dr. Hatem Alamy, Chairman of the BOT at MUBS, stressed the importance of citizenship and the role that the university is playing in preparing students who are open to the challenges of the world and not to inflame strife and social problems.

Dr. Alamy also noted that the MUBS educational initiative on global citizenship is partially fulfilled in the curriculum, the joint partnerships established with foreign universities, exchange of students and professors, and research projects.

Dr. Ahmad Jammal, Director General of Higher Education, introduced the culture of peace as a democratic national issue and modernization of social consciousness that would help in confronting challenges.

The event concluded by Dr. Alamy’s announcement of organizing a competition for high school students around world peace themes. Details about the contest will be announced at the World Peace Day next year.
