By MUBS Communications Dept., 27 Oct, 2021.

On November 30, 2021, Ambassador Haider Shaya Al-Barrak met with Dr. Hatem Alamy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Modern University, who was accompanied by Dr. Ali Shuaib, President of the University, and Dr. Abbas Khawaja, at the embassy headquarters. During the meeting, the university's relationship with those in charge of higher education in Iraq, as well as the experience of accepting students in Iraq in 2014, were discussed. Dr. Alami expressed his rejection of the campaign that attempted to offend the university and distort the decision of the Scholarships Department in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq, emphasizing the university's commitment to quality and positivity, as well as the university's deep concern to adopt quality standards and develop all requirements in the face of the challenges that have arisen as a result of the Corona virus outbreak.

Following the ambassador's presentation of the news on the issue of Iraqi students' certificates in Lebanon and the decision to suspend student admission to some universities due to academic merits related to the number of students, it was agreed to strengthen communication in the next stage and commit to all means that achieve both sides' aspirations to adopt quality and virtue systems and achieve the desired educational outcomes.

Muhannad Yahya, the Consul at the Embassy in charge of managing the cultural attaché's affairs, attended the meeting.

The meeting is in line with the University's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 (Education), SDG 16 (Strong Institutions for Peace and Justice), and SDG 17.
