The Effect of High Dose Vitamin D on Sarcopenic Obesity

By MUBS Communications Dept., 18 Jan, 2022.

A new research paper was published by Dr. Jana Jabbour from the school of Health Sciences at the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS) in the Journal of Endocrine. Researchers from the American University of Beirut's Calcium Metabolism and Osteoporosis Program and Weill Cornell University co-authored this study.

The study, "Effect of high dose vitamin D supplementation on indices of sarcopenia and obesity assessed by DXA among older adults: A randomized controlled trial," evaluated the impact/difference of high dose vitamin D supplementation on indices of sarcopenia and obesity.

The study concluded that high dose vitamin D did not improve indices of sarcopenia nor adiposity compared to the dose recommended by the Institute of Medicine.

This research makes an important contribution to the fields of nutrition and endocrinology.
