By MUBS Communications Dept., 2023.

On April 19, 2023, the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS) took a major step forward in promoting sustainable development and environmental awareness by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Go Green Recycle at Aley Municipality. The partnership is consistent with MUBS's strategic plan and commitment to preserving and protecting natural resources and fosters a mindset of social responsibility and overall well-being. Dr. Hatem Alamy, Chair of the Board of Trustees (BOT), emphasized the significance of the partnership in promoting sustainability and environmental awareness during the MOU signing ceremony. He stated that this partnership is a significant step towards achieving MUBS's strategic plan and promoting sustainability in the community and that together they can leave a positive impact on the environment and future generations.

Wajdi Mrad, Mayor of Aley, played a crucial role in facilitating the partnership between MUBS and Go Green Recycle. He stressed the need for universities, schools, and the private sector to participate in such projects through awareness campaigns that help spread the need for sorting waste at home. Engineer Raed Hassib Al-Reis, Aley Municipal Council Member, also emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating that it is a significant step towards preserving cleanliness in Aley and that the municipality is ready to provide all available facilities to achieve the plan's goal.

Under the agreement, Go Green Recycle will provide custom-made bins for all MUBS campuses, pick-up and collection of recyclables, and payments from their sale. MUBS will be responsible for raising awareness throughout all campuses and the local community, advertising the program on the university website and social media sites, and ensuring a minimum number of activities per year. The MOU also includes the "Go Green MUBS Scholarship," which will be awarded to eligible students committed to making a substantial impact in their community. Go Green Recycle has agreed to contribute up to $1,500 for a full academic year starting spring of 2024.

Overall, the MOU signing ceremony with Go Green Recycle is an excellent example of how universities and businesses can work together to make a positive impact on the environment and the community. It aligns with MUBS's strategic plan, promotes sustainable development goals, fosters a mindset of social responsibility, and includes a scholarship for eligible students.
