MUBS Student Sara El Rayess Wins Unipack Creative Award

By MUBS Communications Dept., 2000-2021.

Students from the Art and Design Department at the Modern University for Business & Science (MUBS) participated in the Arab Student StarPack 2019 packaging contest competing with eight hundred and ninety-four applicants from Lebanon and other Arab countries. The winners were announced during a ceremony at the General Union of Arab Chambers of Commerce on June 26, 2019, in the presence of the Minister of Commerce and the President of the General Union of Arab Chambers of Commerce.

We are proud to announce that MUBS’ Art and Design student Sara El Rayess won the coveted Unipack Creative Award for her original design for packaging of Halawa. It impressed the judging panel composed of leading international and regional experts in the field of packaging, design, branding, marketing and food safety. “Halawa…comes in a hard one piece block shape and causes a mess when cutting it. We all know how it breaks and becomes small pieces,” says Sara El Rayess. “For those reasons I designed a new concept for the Halawa products where now each piece comes in a cubical pieces format, covered with an aluminum colored protective sheet.”

LibanPack has been organizing Lebanon Student StarPack, the first packaging contest in Lebanon and the Middle East since 2010. Through Arab Student StarPack, LibanPack and UNIDO hope to create a bridge between the young generation of future graphic designers, industrial and food engineers and industrialists.

“Winning in this competition offered Sara the opportunity to communicate with businesses and industries,” says Rima Ammar, Chair of the Art & Design Department, MUBS. “And, opened the door for future employment.”

Congratulations!
