Introduction to MUBS STUDENT CHARTER

The Modern University for Business and Science is a Lebanese institution of higher education which is devoted to empowering innovation and inspiring youth. On the path to fulfilling its mission, MUBS has invested all of its resources into the constant development of an environment conducive to learning. The result has been the creation of a diverse and closely-knit academic community that is fully committed to creating a life-long learning community. The MUBS educational spirit is one of respect, integrity and inspiration and is meant to constantly motivate members of its community to leap forward and aim higher.

It is the MUBS spirit which acts as the foundation of this charter. Collectively and individually, all MUBS stakeholders play a role in creating the unique, supportive, and innovative learning community at MUBS. The MUBS student charter illustrates the relationship and commitment between MUBS and its stakeholders. This document specifically outlines the expectations of the university and its stakeholders towards one another.

Transparency

Students can expect MUBS to:

  • Provide easy access to clear information about the university’s rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide clear accounting, payment, and tuition policies and procedures.
  • Provide fair and diverse methods of student assessment and program information.
  • Provide an atmosphere of equality, respect, and integrity in all stakeholder-MUBS dealings.

MUBS can expect students to:

  • Recognize their responsibilities under the university’s rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Respect and abide by the university’s rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Respect university property, and administrative deadlines.
  • Partake in the further development of an atmosphere of equality, respect, and integrity in all stakeholder-MUBS dealings.

Academics: The Learning – Teaching Relationship.

Students can expect MUBS to:

  • Provide an updated, high-quality, research-based, academic curriculum for all faculties, schools, and majors at the university.
  • Provide a research based, challenging and inspiring classroom environment.
  • Provide quality courses focused on employability skills and producing the highest caliber of graduates.
  • Provide motivational and inspirational teaching faculty and advisers for academic and professional guidance.
  • Provide transparent and fair course requirements, assessments, and feedback with the dissemination of results in an appropriate manner and within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Provide clear policies and procedures towards plagiarism and unacceptable academic behavior.
  • Provide stimulating, academic materials online, in the classroom in the library, and in learning–spaces that support and aid in the development of the MUBS-Learning environment.
  • Provide access to material, resources, and spaces that facilitate the achievement of students’ educational and academic goals.

MUBS can expect students to:

  • Take advantage of the MUBS learning environment by actively participating in the classroom.
  • Visit instructors and advisors during office hours for academic and professional guidance.
  • Meet course requirements and complete assessments to the best of their abilities and within the given timeframe in compliance with guidelines.
  • Recognize and Respect MUBS policy on academic behavior and plagiarism and act with academic integrity in and out of the classroom.
  • Utilize academic materials and resources to enhance their learning experience and better achieve academic and educational goals.
  • Provide fair and constructive feedback on the learning environment, curriculum academic resources, classrooms, teaching faculty, and academic programs.

Petitions and Disciplinary Actions

Students can expect MUBS to:

  • Create and publish transparent, fair, and open policies and procedures on the disciplinary actions taken in case of inappropriate academic behavior or behavior which does not comply with MUBS regulations, policies, and procedures, or which is not conducive to a learning environment based on a mutual respect between stakeholders.
  • Create and publish transparent, fair, and open policies and procedures on the submission of petitions and student feedback.
  • Respond to every student petition submission in an appropriate and timely manner with a clear outcome, or action.
  • Provide clear and simple methods for the submission of petitions, grievances, and feedback.

MUBS can expect students to:

  • Respect and abide by all MUBS regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Be aware of possible disciplinary actions taken in the case of non-compliance to MUBS regulations, policies, and procedures, or in the case of an academic or learning environment misdemeanor.
  • Follow procedures for the submission of petitions or for voicing constructive criticism or feedback.
  • Adhere to the principles conducive to a stimulating learning environment based on mutual respect.

Student Life

Students can expect MUBS to:

  • Treat all stakeholders equally and with the greatest courtesy and respect.
  • Provide an equal-opportunity, safe and healthy learning environment on campus.
  • Show commitment and respect to both the local-campus community and international communities.
  • Provide equal-opportunity for stakeholders to participate in all MUBS activities.
  • Provide MUBS activities which enhance academic, personal, social, and professional growth and development of MUBS students.
  • Promote activities which raise social awareness.
  • Provide opportunities that enhance graduate employability and work placement opportunities.
  • Provide opportunities for all stakeholders to participate in an active student life.
  • Encourage democracy through the support and activities of the student representative council.
  • Promote a lifelong relationship between the university and its alumni.

MUBS expects students to:

  • Treat all stakeholders equally and with the greatest courtesy and respect.
  • Utilize the provision of MUBS campuses, resources, staff, faculty, and materials to enhance the student-experience.
  • Actively participate in all MUBS activities.
  • Be proactive and take advantage of employability enhancement and work placement opportunities.
  • Become active members of international and local communities.
  • Engage in Alumni activities upon graduation.
