Erasmus Mundus Phoenix Project Update
Dr. Bassem Kaissi represented MUBS in the Kick-off meeting of the Europe – (Palestine, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon) Intercultural Exchange for Internationalization : Research Management, Student employability and Academic Excellence (Phoenix) Erasmus Mundus project held at the University of Almeria (Spain) on October 23 and 24, 2013.
Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Strand 1 partnership for Lot 2 (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and
Occupied Palestinian territories) PHOENIX project intends to develop a structured
mobility based cooperation between 3 Palestinian, 2 Lebanese, 1 Syrian and 2
Jordanian HEIs on one side and 9 EU HEIs on the other side. This cooperation
network aims at supporting students from all levels (undergraduate, Master and PhD),
academic staff, researchers and administrative staff to gain experiences, expertise and
skills through interaction in an international environment.
Phoenix Erasmus Mundus project specific objectives are:
1. To set up an institutional-based sustainable Europe- Palestine-Lebanon-Syria-Jordan mobility network focusing on regional prioritized needs.
2. To support a pool of 150 well-educated and responsible young men and women to study and get training in the identified specific thematic fields.
3. To enhance partner HEIs capacity of conducting joint community-oriented quality research.
4. To raise staff’s competencies for better university governance, a common priority by all lot 2 participating Universities.
